Oh no...please, not a failed RMS..

After 2 weeks of being being away, I return today and decide to give my C4S a bit of a run...
Reversing it out of the garage revealed no oily spots that have appeared since I last parked it up...good start.

20 minutes of moderate driving later I return and re-park. Upon leaving the garage I see oil spots on the wet driveway access...oh no!

An inspection of the underneath reveals the sump is covered in oil, and further forward of the sump, there is oil dripping. Not constantly dripping...but a oil spot / pool about the size of a £2 coil in 10 minutes.

Am I in the right area for the infamous RMS?

I made a quick phonecall to Aberdeen OPC who are going to pop it on the ramps and have a look tomorrow...but I'd like to hear if this 'leak' could be coming from the RMS area...just to prepare myself.
1600 miles covered...not exactly good.
That's the paint flaking of the front bumper, 3 centre cap crests fallen off already and an oil leak....in 1600 miles.
Not happy.

Anyone got any ideas, just to give me a bit of warning?

...and to think...I opened my PCGB RMS survey form today...I think I'll be waiting to return that until the OPC has had the chance to diagnose the fault.

It sounds like just the sump plug. I hope for your sake it is.

The RMS drip is further forward to wards the front of the car between the engine and gearbox. If you have oil there and it's dead center of the car then you have a failed RMS or maybe an IMS. Best of luck mate.

Cheers Berny,
If the damn thing wasn't so low, I'd be able to see better...
Never mind, I'll head off to the OPC at 9ish, so I should know mid morning what the problem is.

I'll post the results later...

Fortunately, no RMS problems for me!

It appears the oil was leaking from a timing chain tensioner...the offending seal was swiftly replaced this morning, the engine cleaned, oil topped up, car washed and me sent on my merry way. Top stuff...
