All the way to Spain and back and not a single problem. 2830 miles and not a wimper. Car ran like a dream.

Started the car this afternoon and it sounded like a bag of nails loose in the engine!

What now!

Car being flatbedded into Tech9 tommorow.

fingers & toes crossed!..........walks off crying......

Noooooo!

I don't understand this.
What on earth is going on???

I hope it's nothing serious.
Fingers crossed...

The engine seems to run/idle OK just horrible noises at start up. The noises "mostly" went away after the car warmed up and no smoke out the back. There is a distinct rattle on de-accelaration. It really does sound like something is loose in the engine! Oil is still clear like new even after that huge trip and nothing indicates that it needs a top up. I hope its nothing serious but it sure sounds like ££££.

...could've been your phone going off- Crazy Frog ringtone?[:D]

Not funny I know, Tech9 I should imagine will be more interested in your car that Mann Island, who will undoubtedly be only interested in offering you 2 Roubles (if you're lucky) for your 996, as a trade in for a new £70K+ 997 (without options) rather than solving any problems with your car.

I do hope this latest issue turns out to be a non event.

It does sound like the Crazy Frog. Have you checked your call register on your Nokia? Do that first, then Tech9.

I think it was the incident with the BMW M5. It's time to sell and move onwards and upwards.

I have been driving my 996 with an RMS problem for 2 months now, absolutely fine though. Even got 171mph on the M4 last night.

Hope it goes ok, let us know what the outcome is.[:(]

Thanks guys. on its way to Tech9 now. Will let you know what they say.

VORLAND, I heard along the grapevine your engine blew up!
Give me a all mate.

How big a bag? Sometimes mine has a rattle from the exhaust when revved beyond 2,500 shortly after starting - whether warm or cold. I've assumed it's something in the exhaust that cools and doesn't fit so well until it warms again.

I guess from the mention of a flatbed that yours is a bit worse that that. [:'(]

That might be one of the exhaust heat shields coming loose. Only heard it when I was reversing at low revs. Really loud rattle from the rear.

Just got back......with my car.

Oil pressure cuttout switch had a faulty connection. Fixed in no time and at no cost!!!

Engineer said nothing to worry about.

Thank heavens....[:)]
