Oi your boots open

Well heres a new one. My boot decides to open it's self while driving Hahaha[:D]
I was at the lights on the North Circular ready to go, and shhwish up goes my rear hatch! Lights go green so i have to move off. Couldn't stop for half a mile, everyone beeping, "oi your boots open". No it's my new spoiler!
[:D]
The two clamp like thingy's inside the latch have got stuck, that grad the hatch pins. I've tried to free them with WD40 and screwdriver etc but no luck.

Pull back the carpet immediately under the hatch, and you can see the lock mech, connecting rods and links at the two clamp ends. You should be able to see where it's sticking by using the key to cycle the lock.

mines done that a couple of times too, but i think it might have been me hitting the switch with my foot when getting in the car.

....and try just loosening the two bolts that hold each catch to the back of the car. If they are two tight they pinch the jaws and stop them opening and closing smoothly. Once free and cleaned up, keep them lubricated with oil, not just WD40 as that will evaporate over time.

Could you corner faster with the huuuuge spoiler? [8D]

But of course, I m might use is as a special feature on the A406 next to the Chav Boys. Like the Rocket Booster on Chacki Chans car in Cononball Run[:D][:D][:D]

Thanks all for the help, I've tried using oil and tools to pry it away but those jaw clamps just won't move.
I might just order new ones from Porscheshop.

Mine did this the other day, I thought the backbox had fell off.

When I realised it was just the hatch I thought ferkin hell does my car really sound like that.

Liked it so much I left it open and put my foot down but soon had to stop as I choked on the fumes[:D]

Just a general point, when I needed new rubbers for my tailgate locks I tried my OPC (Nottingham) they quoted £8.45 +vat each. Porsche shop charge £14 +vat each. It's always worth checking your OPC.

It's always worth checking your OPC.

Absolutely! It's disgusting that a few of the independant parts suppliers mark genuine parts up and the unsuspecting punter happily pays it thinking 'Wow that would have cost loads from Porsche'. Always try the OPC first and don't forget your 10% dscount for PCGB membership.

Adrian Oxley at Exeter Porsche has been well recommended by many 944 Register members as not only knowing his way round the parts catalogue better than most others but is also very keen with his pricing [:)]

If they've both jammed at the same time then stick an extra couple of lottery tickets on this week too [:D]

I think it's more likely to be a jammed mechanism. Worth a look before you shell out anyway.

[falls off chair] That is Adrian's real name" [/falls off chair]

I agree with the cahp who says loosen of the bolts a touch. This happens to me on a regular basis (i.e. when its mucky in the winter). However, loosening the bolts is only really a temporary measure, and your have to take them apart and give 'em a good clean eventually.
