Oil blockage

I noticed that my car was dumping a fair amount of oil just before the throttle body which I traced to the breather from the oil separator. I'd found somebody else online who was suffering from the same issue which they put down to broken seals so today I removed the separator so I could pop some new seals on.

Turned out that the lower hole was completely clogged which was the same for the engine block. After a while of prodding it with various things I cleared a fair bit of the blockage but the oil is still completely unable to drain down into the sump from here and instead having to run down through the upper hole in the separator and since this is constantly full of oil it means that the breather is picking up the oil when revved.

I was trawling through TTM's engine build post as I remembered he'd posted a pic of the underside of the engine so I could get a better idea of what's going on and it seems that there is a metal tube that runs right down next to the oil pickup and it is blocked. Here's the image (hope you don't mind me using it).

Does anybody have any ideas of how to unblock this thing short of removing the sump?

Not sure that air would be able to shift it. I'd stand more chance if I could get a good seal on the lower hole in the side of the block but with the equipment at my disposal I don't see it happening.

My Dad suggested putting some petrol into the separator and leave it for a week to try and shift the stuff so might have to give it a shot.

What about the thingy, for want of a better name that is used to clean the barrel of a paintball gun?
Its been years since I've been but the marshals had a stick with a rubber disc on the end on a pivot that was pushed down the barrel with the disc sideways, when you pull it out again the disc pulls flat and clears blockages.

Not really sure what one of those is but considering how awkward it was to stuff a rod/curtain rail flexible thinger/strimmer cable down the hole I doubt I'd get very far with a disc stuck on the end.

If only I had an endoscope where you can control the end I'd be alright. Either that or the perseverance to remove the sump.
