OIL CHANGE -SMALL AMOUNTS METAL DEBRIS

Hi I've recently purchased a Porsche Boxster as follows
2003 2.7 manual 51,000 miles FSH . The car was recently serviced at Porsche Main Dealer and has various receipts including 1 for IMS bearing, clutch & Flywheel at approx. 37,000 miles in March 2013.
As a precaution I decided to change the oil myself and cut open the oil filter and I found a couple of small particles of metal , car drives perfect no rattles etc.
Should I keep an eye on it by changing oil and checking for metal particles again or should i look at getting IMS bearing investigated/replaced? I am awaiting for the the main dealer who recently serviced the car to forward me the vehicle health report.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

When changing my Boxster oil i often find little particles in the filter - i suppose its just doing its job. They tend to be from the timing chain guides which are designed to wear as the engines runs.
The problem comes when you find lots of metal particles it there !
If it were me I and it were only a few particles I think I would just monitor it by just checking the oil filter periodically to see what debris it has picked up.
Its also cheaper than keep changing the oil at £80 a go.

My understanding is that Porsche Centres do not replace IMS bearings only RMS seals. Check receipt again. Or was bearing done by an independent? Suggestion to pull oil filter in say 1-2k miles seems sensible approach to me.

Hi sorry for the confusion to confirm the following all undertaken by the previous Owner

- the IMS bearing clutch and flywheel was replaced by and independant Porsche specialist in 2013

-The recent service was undertaken by Porsche in Colchester this year

I would agree with the others. Check the oil filter in 1500miles.

I buy genuine Porsche Filters from OPC Chester about 20.00 with my member discount
EuroCar parts supply me with 10 litres of Shell Helix Ultra 5W 40 or under 50.00 (2 x 5 Litre)

Like the idea of a Magnetic Sump Plug

Maybe I should wait till I get a magnetic sump plug
