Oil change time, spin on filter modification - a good idea or not?

Hello all,

I'm about to put my car in for a minor service and since it's basically an oil change I'll use my local garage rather than my usual porsche indi as they are much more convenient and will do the MoT at the same time. I've offered to supply the parts myself, not because they refused, but because I know they buy oil in bulk and so use their own supplies unless specified otherwise. I want to maintain the Mobil1 currently used.
However the question is; do I replace the standard oil filter cartridge with a spin on oil canister cartridge? Looking at D911 I see this seems to be a popular 'upgrade' as it claims to avoid debris issues and a 'bypass' of the filter? Has anyone done this and is it a good idea or do I stick with standard parts?
Car is a 2005 C2.
Thanks in advance.

The good thing about the original filter is that you can cut it open to inspect for debris etc, as this could give you a heads up on anything untoward happening.

I would stick with standard, as it’s always a good idea to cut open the old oil filter and look for any bits of metal or plastic
