I am going to change the oil and try to fix the leaks in the process, what gaskets will I need, sump nuts, filter, type of oil and how much.

Where is the best place to order from, I am in jersey UK and have not located anyone local yet.

Cheers

Hi Robert,
Try Mark at Roger Bray 01404 822 005
I would but a few filters as you should be changing them every 4000m along with the oil.
Oil: Castrol 10w 40 for Normal engines, not synthetic or semi.
The Knecht OX 79 filter comes with a gasket, I remove the 'handle' to use next time.
I think the Fram equivlelent is a C3

Should be all you need, if you want to clean the magnet and screen you will need two sump gaskets too.

Should cost you no more than £50 for oil, gaskets, filter and postage... hopefully

If you are doing a proper job do the valves too, then add rocker gaskets to your list.

Oil change: engine hot
Valves: engine cold

When you get up to speed 30mins should do it!

I concur with Gavin that a valve adjustment is done at the same time. The engine must be stone cold though, i.e left to stand overnight minimum and not even started before doing the valves. Therefore valves first, then oil.
