Hi,

Could someone please give me an idea on oil consumption per 1000 miles or so my 964 has done 117,000 and I am interested in what the oil consumption should really be

Thanks

I asked a similar question a while back cause I wasn't using much oil at all. I think the normal oil usage is about 1ltr per 1500 miles dependant on engine condition and the type of use it gets.
I use about 1 ltr every 6k. This worried me as it was so high but after posting on here and getting the engine checked out everything is ok, just a tight engine.

Hope this helps

How long is a piece of string??

My car - 76000 miles - barely uses any oil at all. Since the last service in December it used about a quarter of a litre in about 4000 miles. Then I did a trackday - 250 miles - and afterwards put in about a half litre but it wasn't full to start with. Then I did a quickish trip to Dorset - 160 miles - and put in the better part of a litre. Again, it wasn;t full to start with. Since then, come back from Dorset and a done a trip to Goodwood - about 500 miles in total - and it hasn't used a drop. So my consumption over about 6000 miles has been somewhat less than two litres.

I think how you use the car decides the question as much as anything. Certainly, in light use, mine uses virtually none. The other variable is the oil you use. Up until the last service I used Mobil-1 and consumption was certainly higher. The current oil is Magnatec in a different grade.
