Oil Consumption

Hi PCGB!
I have recently bought a 997 C4 Gen2 PDK and have driven 1300 local miles (with only now and again putting my foot down). The strange thing is that the oil level has not gone down at all (electronic dipstick). Is this normal, or anyway to manually check that the oil level is at the optimum level?

Thanks in advance.

Doesn't move much on our 996, the electronic dipstick seems about right. We've got a real one as well!

Hi Sid,

Although experiences vary, it's not unusual for the engine to use little or no oil. Porsche state that an oil consumption of up to 1.5 l/1,000 km is acceptable.

Unfortunately on your car there's no manual dipstick, so just keep a check on the oil level for any irregularities.

Enjoy your new car.

Jeff

Welcome to the forum Sid. From experience, and for some unknown reason and as Jeff says, they vary an awful lot. Mine have never used a drop between services yet others are almost on the maximum allowed (as given above).
