Oil Drain Tubes

Hi,

I was installing my new rear suspension this weekend and whilst underneath had a good look around.

The oil drain tubes between the head and block looked to have some rusty patches on them, had a feel around them and thought that one my have a hole through on its top edge.

Is it a known problem on 993's for these to perforate, if so what is the short term issues with continuing to run the car ? There does not seem to be any oil residue emanating from them.

Has anyone else had to have these repaired ?

Andy B.

I'm not sure about the 993 but on my old 3.2 it was possible to replace them without splitting the block using a sliding type which seemed to work quite well

Maybe the pipes have corroded from the inside ? Maybe there has been condensation in the engine, following a long period of lack of use ?
