Oil filter replacement

I've just had a look over the servicing schedule on the FAQ's and noticed that the oil filters do not seem to require replacing at the 12,000 mile service when the oil is replaced. Am I just being a numpty and missed the obvious or is this correct?

I haven't gone over my previous invoices (cos it's too late and I'm too lazy) but I'm pretty sure that I've always paid for them to be replaced at every service. But then I did once pay an OPC to replace my front brake pads thinking I would get Porsche parts, only to find they were Textar pads when I subsequently replaced them myself; so just because I've paid for them doesn't mean I got them.

The car goes into an indy on Monday for a 12, 000 service, so will I have to tell him to replace the filters as I don't like the idea of nice clean Mobil 1 mixing with horrible old stuff?

In my handbook it says replace oil filters at each 24,000 service. Mine only does 6k per annum and I replace filters every 12,000 with an oil change every 6k.

My oil stays very clean even after 6,000 miles - unlike my wife's Audi TT that is black a week after oil and filter replaced.

Thanks for that John. My service manual is in German (I imported the car 7 years ago) and I have never got round to translating it or, more sensibly, getting an English version. I have looked at my old invoices and I have sometimes been charged for filters at 12,000 miles and sometimes not.

I know what you mean about the oil being clean after a year's use but I still don't like the idea of new oil going through old filters. I'll speak to the garage tomorrow when I take it in.
