Oil for a noisy 'box

Hope i'm posting in the right place there seems to have been sub forums added since i was last here.

I think it's safe to get the Porsche back out for the summer now but i'm going to change the gearbox oil again, any recommendations on a suitable oil for an embarassingly noisy gearbox? It keeps soldiering on so....

People always recommend swepco, but I always use good quality synthetic oil of the right grade and have never had a problem.

A simple change may well make yours quite a lot quieter. Are you sure it is filled correctly?

I changed it last spring with cheap stuff but i'm willing to try something better to add some longevity and shut it up. I'm confident it doesn't leak.

Bert's got Swepco for £56, sheesh that's a spicy meatball!
If by "Sheesh that's a spicy meatball" you mean "That's expensive" then I agree. When I looked into a couple of years ago I was struck by how pricey it was. Mind you, it does get good recommendations from people whose opinion I trust, so maybe it is worth it ... perhaps.

Stuff I use is about £8 a litre. And works just fine.

No affiliation - I just like the oils they produce!
