Paul,

Oil in front of the right rear wheel means you have a leak around the oil thermostat. It may be just unions weeping and may possibly be fixed by tightening up the clamps. If it's more inboard from the sharksfin it may be the power steering pump oil seal. That's at the back of the engine on the right hand side and not a big deal to fix.

I'm sure you know to only check the poil level when it's at running temperature, 'stat open and on level ground. The dash gauge should give you a good indication (somewhere between half and full) but it's essential to check that the dipstick agrees no and then!!

Oil pressure sounds a tad low but passable. I've seen tickover pressure less than 1 when really hot (9 to 10 o'clock on the dial) but otherwise rarely less. 4.5 to 5 is pretty normal - most seem to hit 5 at much over 3000 revs.

Don't panic!! Most 964s drop a little oil but the expensive drips come from the engine. Many find that the leaks reduce as you drive it more - they don't like sitting around doing nothing.

Hope that helps.

Regards

Dave

Hi Guys,
All is not as bad as first thought .I set off this morning on the 12 Mile Trip to a Local Inde in Stockton-on-Tees, I can't remember any of the journey pre-occupied with how much is this going to cost? Jesus I Broke the Bank buying it last WEEK!.I could here "I TOLD YOU SO" from every jealous person I know. Anyway I had spoke to the specialist Jamie only on the phone a couple of weeks ago prior to buying it he seemed quite young. Arrived at the garage I was greeted by Jamie he was "young" but I thought he must know more than me, I was very impressed to say the least, I drove it to the hydraulic lifter were it was hand pushed to its final position (nice Touch) first impressions and all that. Anyway up it goes My hearts pounding in my ears. The car is still running, off comes the protective cover under the engine after a close inspection Jamie was quite convinced it was not engine oil the car was spitting out. Down came the car for a look at the top end he went straight to the Power Steering Reservoir nearly empty. Up goes the car again to trace out the pipes the first part of the pipe from the reservoir looked quite new as it dropped down, as it turned and ran under the car it got a lot worse in visual condition. Under the next cover just in front of the back right wheel the two pipes were attached to a bracket and there it was dripping quite rapidly.Fault Found a new pipe is required its booked in for next Saturday Approx £100 the best Christmas present I could of wished for.I always fear the worst.I'd like to thank all the Guys for there input it does help reading the personal views good bad or indifferent I love the feedback like I said before I am a novice Thanks once again. I hope to see some of you next year
Best Regards
A Happy
