Oil leak problems!

Hi all,

My 2005 997 C4S has recently had a full engine rebuild. Since then it’s been back a couple of times; once for a solenoid replacement and then again to have some coolant pipes replaced Due to a small leak.

When I took it last time I mentioned an oil leak on my garage floor just after I topped it up. Fresh oil, golden in colour. only a small bit, maybe half a teaspoon or less

The garage checked it over and could not recreate the leak.

This morning I’ve just topped it up again and found a similar amount of oil, fresh oil on the floor.

I’ve not used the car too much, once a week at weekends but driven for 100 or miles each time.

Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? I’m at a total loss!

Any advice appreciated!

Matt

Hi Matt
Did you check the floor prior to filling? If it was dry then the only logical explanation is a crack in the oil filling tube,
Good luck

Hi,
I've topped it up maybe twice with less than 500ml of oil in total.

I topped it up last weekend and reversed out the garage to find a small bit of fresh oil. Left it for a few hours and place a cardboard sheet under the car and not a drop was found on it.

Then took it out for an hour or so and when I finished put another piece of cardboard under the car again and it was totally dry.

Left it for a few more days and again bone dry!

So its must be a crack in the filler tube?

Thanks

Matt

You should be able to see any oil spill in the vicinity of the tube area. It's a DIY job part is about £48 from Porsche

good luck

Ok thanks all! Big help.

I haven’t seen some videos on that but looks like I need to remove the timing belt....?

thanks Matt
