oil leak

Noticed last week after the car had been in the garage for 2 weeks without use that there were a few drips of oil on the floor. Taking no notice I drove the car today and left it on the drive. Just put it back in the garage and noticed a largeish pool of oil on the drive. Had a quick look under the car and noticed that it seems to be coming from nearer the front of the engine. In fact it appears to be dripping onto the gearbox cover and not the rear cover. Should I be worried or could it be a leaky oil filter[:eek:]?
