Oil Leak

Hi everyone.
Just putting the bins out and noticed some oil patches on the driveway. Looked under the car and noticed oil drips and a coating of oil everywhere. I had work done to the car in April and the independent place said the IMS and RMS were ok and didn’t need changing (I took it to them to have it done).
I haven’t noticed the oil level drop, but I will check again tomorrow. I drive the car daily about 10 miles.
Any ideas.
Thanks

Id be tempted to get a second opinion. If engine oil level isnt dropping maybe its gearbox oil, in which case you need to get the car level and on a ramp to check levels. If it is gear oil then more likely to be RMS. Daft question but what does the oil smell like? Gear oil has quite a distinctive smell compared to engine oil, especially when older. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for this. If it is the RMS is that going to be a big and expensive job.? If I keep driving the car am I going to damage it?

I came into Porsche ownership knowing it was going to be an expensive treat. But in my 4 months of ownership I am already 6k in and hoped everything was sorted for a while! Oh well we live and learn! - Still love the car though!

Always difficult to tell from pics but it looks as though the leak is from the rear of the engine, so you’d have to suspect a leak from the engine’s RMS if it’s a light oil or from the gearbox if it’s a heavier oil, although a leak from the sump or maybe the oil filter is always a possibility. Whatever, as suggested it’s important to get the car on a ramp for a proper inspection by a specialist who will be able to advise you on the best course of action, including whether or not you should continue to drive the car, and also they’ll be able to give you a price for any rectification work.

Don’t take this as gospel but assuming that it’s a minor engine oil leak and you’re checking the level regularly I would have thought that you should be okay to drive the car for your 10-mile daily journey.🤔

UPDATE: Thanks for the replies. Took the car to Brookspeed and they said it’s gearbox oil. They can’t tell the extent of the issue without removing the under trays. But they recommended driving the car as little as possible to be safe.
I have booked it in for next Thursday.
But has anyone else has this issue and know costs etc?
