Oil Level Check.

Am I do something wrong?

Run engine for approx 10-15 mins....(including short drive)
Park on level surface and keep engine running... wait approx another 2-3 mins.
Remove dipstick clean then replace.

Repeated dipping approx 4 times and cleaning in between.

Cannot determine oil level, there are marks on the dipdtick of oil but no apparently obvious level.

Please note I am a novice porsche owner....please advise

Yep there is a real knack to dipping the oil on a 993. Firstly you will probably need to drive it for more than fifteen minutes to get the thermostat to the oil cooler open. Probably, more like 30 minures. You will know when you have achieved it because you will see your oil level gauge rise when the engine idles. Secondly, hold the dipstick up to the light and twist it until you can see where the oil level has reached. You may well end up holding the dipstick close to your eye.
