Hi - just tried to start my boxster up afer a few days leaving it on the drive. The oil indicator level on the dash doesnt settle to any level at all - ( it normally settles to the level after 5 seconds ) the timers is now running dowm from an hour. Is this normal or does anyone have any ideas what has gone wrong

Cheers

Just a bit more info re this problem.

The manual oil level appears ok ( it was also ok when I last used it. ) The engine sounds very rough when I start it and then the oil indicator "countdown " starts from 60 minutes again.

God I hate cars when they play up !!!

When tried from cold, the oil check should take only a few seconds, but ages when the engine is warm. Obviously with a warm engine, the oil is all over the place, so I guess the delay is for it to return to the sump - but expecting the driver to have to wait so long - with the ignition on - is just daft!
