Oil level sender unit wiring!!!!

Among my other recent niggles with my 1983 sc is the popular problem of the oil sender unit not giving a reading, it just points straight up, a bad earth was suggested however I have had a good look at the sender unit in the oil tank in the rear offside wing whilst recently replacing a split oil line, no wonder it don't work as there are no wires going to it at all, the spades are ther to connect to but no flippin wires....

Any ideas what Im looking for, colour, location of wiring to try and find the related wires

Cheers

Nick

The wires you need will be in the vicinity somewhere I suspect, they are in a sheathed cable, one of those cloth type ones, remind me to post the wiring colours if I don't remember.

I have looked all over, the only one I can find is a white and red pair of wires in a white sheath which are currently tied up behind the rear light cluster in the off side corner however they both appear to have the same size female spade type connectors and I believe the sender units two connectors are of differing sizes presumably to get the wires the right way round??

According to the wiring diagrams the wires should be white (to earth) and green and white back to the gauge with as you've noticed different sized connectors, unhook them and try them out Nick. I can't remember what colours the wires were when I last had the tank out but I don't remember them being white and green and white but try anyway
