oil levels 997s

hi chaps quick bit of advice if u dont mind. ive only used 1 litre of oil in 3,500 miles is this normal?? also with engine fully warmed up and the 5 minute oil level check on the dash the reading was 3 quarters full but with engine practically cold it gave me a reading of only quarter full and flashing at me.....which is the one to believe?? tks
