oil on electrode...

Hello all

... i've now discovered oil on the electrode of the spark plug closest to the front/ Fan. Do you think it's likely to be piston ring break wear, or could it just be too much oil last time i cheanged it... i don't notice loss of power, a bit of whit smoke when cold ( seems to be condensation in exhaust )... coolant liquid nice and clean, same for air filter etc... can i arry on like that until i find time to fix, or should i find time NOW...

thanks and good day

pjb.

ps: ive just realised the most beautiful car ever made is a porsche. ( 904 ) so expensive and rare...[&:]

It could simply be that the spark plug is knackered. Swop it with another of the plugs and see if you either get the second plug oiled up or the original one gets oiled up again.
"Look for the simple thing first" a mechanic friend once told me.

Cheers,

ok, i'll try that...

but surely, when i cleaned it, it should have stayed clean... off i am to swap them , aus fidji is a one way game anyway...

Not if it isn't working pjb.
Anyway when you reply to this you will have swapped them over and will have a bit more information regarding the first spark plug. Porsches seem to like Bosch plugs if you need to replace them.

Illegitimus non tatum carborundum.

Cheers,

checked them, swapped them around, works fine ( slightly better than before ) could be cause another one was totally drowned in oil... cleaned it up etc...

have you got an idea of the cause, or a way to trouble shoot ... ( im worried about piston rings...or worse ) but as i said, no loss in power , nno dodgy noises ... fingers crossed

cheers

How many miles have these plugs done? Maybe a good idea to buy a new set and just keep those as spares. I don't know enough about putting a hotter or colder running plugs in so best ask the 944 technical gurus.

Cheers,
