Oil Pipe Leak!!

I'm helping my mate with his 85 3.2 Carrera. He's had oil dripping just by the O/S jacking point for a while now so I have removed the side skirt and rear whhel to have a good look for the leak. Cleaned the pipes up and found that it is leaking from one of the pipes on the oil pressure relief value (See Photo!). Have tried to get a spanner in there but there just isn't enough gap between the 2 nuts. My neighbour modified a spanner of his but I still couldn't make it move either way! Tried gasket seal - Failed, Tried Quick Steel - Failed. Both of these were for a temp solution but no joy. Any other ideas? Whats involved if it goes to a garage and any ideas of costs?

That's the thermostat as far as I am aware. Might be easier to drop the whole pipework assembly, front to rear. It'll be easier to remove the and reseal the union then. Whilst you are there is would be best to replace and freshen up any pipework. Never done it myself but have I am aware that cutting the but is sometimes the only way to remove it. Search on Pelican, there will be loads of info on removal.

You could try first tapping the sides/flats of the nut to break any corrosion that may be in the threads. You could then heat up the nut with a torch, until it glows red.
This should help to get it undone so you can then clean and remake the joint.
