Have launched a new thread because I am not sure about my oil pressure.
Will be taking car for a long run tomorrow to check if I get any Oil in Water

When I start the engine cold it goes up to 5 on the pressure gauge

Runs like that for some time (till warm?) then drops to 4

hovers between just over 3 to just under 4

tick over 2.5 -3

Have not done an oil change myself so not sure what oil is in it

Maybee I should do an Oil Change

Whats the best oil for an engine that's done 100k will get a genuine Filter on Saturday from Porsche

Just wondered if excessive oil pressure might put a few drops of oil in the Water??

No Oil today!!

Those oil pressure readings sound just about spot on to me. Stop fretting!

Edit - Approved Oils: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=230743

Personally, I would go with a 5W-40

I am getting more and more hopeful about the Water situation looking good

Love the car to bits - My wife an I have had a number of quattros in the passed but had to sell then after not being able to have 'fun' as they where so stable and with incredible road holding (she coulnt put up with the g force going around cornaers

After that bought a number of 3 series BMW Convertibles over a years and fell in love with soft top motoring (

Bought a SABB Convertible (UHHHH)

My wife has had serious brain operations so bought a MERC CLK Convertible. Well built but the wallowing caused problems inside her head (She has to take anti sickness pills all the time

Tried the Porsche (Carrera 4 S) and she instantly loved it

It has given us our lives back. Before we stayed in but recently went to Skye for a holiday and it was just like old time in the quattros

WEVE GOT OUR LIVES BACK#
But unfortunately haven't lots of money to keep a car on the road so I am trying to get the best possible fix (if needed) for the car

Here's hoping it is OK

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

Hi There
Have you got oil in the water header tank ???
if yes, then if you are lucky, you may have only got a leaking water/oil cooler problem which is not to bad to put right and not to costly !!!
how long have you had the car ? has it had the cooler replaced recently ? if the previous owner had the cooler replaced, it may only the residue from having it replaced !
Good luck !

All seems OK

Had a lot done to the car before I accepted it (Rebuilt of Front Transmission assembly including new Viscous Coupling

Cardian shaft rebuilt

Gearbox had new linings fitted and Torque convertor rebuilt

Thios was when I noticed the Oil - almost certain it was contaminant from all the repairs

Had the system flushed and NEW coolant added (Bluecol cause it was cheap - will flush again and refill with approved coolant if all ok)

Since then Oil in Water problem the Water Pump has been replaced

It all seems OK -

Expecting to flush the system again and use coolant recommended by RichardH

T hanks

Now Ive got to do the Exhaust - see my other thread
