Oil Pressure Dial

Hi All
I've recently upgraded from my C2S Gen 1 to a Gen 11 with PDK and have had it about a week, I must say I am loving the PDK box, I find it so much better to drive and much quicker than my manual!!!!
My question relates to the Oil pressure dial (on the right of the cluster), when driving it rarely goes above 2 and I am used to 4/5 on my Manual Gen 1 C2S...The Oil temp gauge and Oil reading via the segments all seem fine but I'm wondering if I need to be concerned by the level never going above 3?...I don't really know what the numbers signify If I'm honest but wondered why there is such a difference & if it is something to be worried about
Cheers

No, nothing amiss its same as mine.

Think handbook says it should be around 3.5 at 5k rpm, but in normal steady driving mines mid gauge at 2 ish, and if I'm being more spirited then it does go up, but i'm usually watching where I'm going[:D].

I believe it is to do with the oil pump adjusting to the engines/driving needs, but someone more technologically minded will no doubt explain

It's an electric, on demand, oil pump in the Gen 2 DFI engine instead of the mechanical one in the earlier version. You can watch the pressure go up and down with your right foot! What you see is normal. It should go above 3 (bar) when you floor it though![:)]
Edit - I seem to remember there was a software update in the early days of the Gen 2 (there certainly was on my turbo) which changed the output of the pump (higher pressure at lower power) which was quite noticeable. Might be worth checking to see if your car has had that update. If it's been maintained at a PC it should have.....

Agree with above posts , moving from a gen 1 C2S to a gen 2 , I experienced what you describe .

great thanks all, just wanted to check and you've put my mind at rest
must say once again how I'm loving the PDK, it's phenomenal and I'm so glad I took my time and held out for a PDK over the manual!
