OIL PRESSURE GAUGE OR VIBRATION METER?

Hi Guys,
I've posted my question here as I guess its a generic problem to 80s 911s although mine is an 1987 911 Turbo.
My oil pressure gauge acts more like a vibration meter!! It bounces around like crazy between normal oil pressure readings and the top of the gauge furiously then settles for a few seconds then bounces around again. Hot or cold makes no difference - anyone any ideas??
