Oil Pressure - Potential Problem

[FONT=arial"]Hi all. This is my first post so hopefully it won't be one that can't be resolved with the minimum of fuss.

I have an 2006 997 C2S.

My manual states the oil pressure should be at 3.5 bar at 5,000 rpm when the engine is warm. Today however whilst in the car the Oil Pressure pretty much stayed at 5 bar!!

Is this a problem looming or already happening?

Thanks,

Rich

Rich, I think this is pretty normal at 5,000 rpm, I would think 3.5 bar may be the minimum pressure Porsche would recommend at that revs.
From memory I think my reading is pretty much 5 bar at anything over approx 4,000 rpm, and I'm happy with that. As I remember high pressure is usually a good sign indicating low leakage from big end bearings.
If in doubt just double check with your OPC or a decent Indy.

Welcome along Rich [:)]

As others, that would be my usual reading, when the engine is being "used"

[FONT=arial"]Thanks all. That ceratinly puts my mind at rest, but just to be sure I'll speak with the OPC tomorrow as my warranty runs out on the 3rd May so I should at least log a query with them.

Once again, thanks for your comments, it's appreciated.
