Oil Pressure Sender - 996 Turbo

I had a "brown trouser" moment at the weekend, complete loss of oil pressure for a few seconds, then it flicked back into life but was erratic for the rest of the trip. Having searched this and other forums, I understand the oil pressure sender unit is a common issue - either the unit itself, or at least the wires needing cleaning / tightening. So, feeling a lot happier that it is nothing major, I had a look in the engine bay to find the unit. Ah... that's well and truly buried then.
If I'm going to get in there, I might as well change the unit anyway so my question is - can anyone advise please what ideally needs to be removed to gain access to that tight area and any "gotcha's" before I start?
I'm no stranger to spanners and happy / confident to tackle it myself, it's just there is so much stuff in there, if I end up ripping out everything in sight, Sods Law says next time I discuss it with someone at a PCGB meet, they'll say "Oh, I had the same problem - you didn't have to do that, all you needed to do was remove x, y and z, it would have been a lot easier".
Any tips or advice appreciated, many thanks..

Presumably you found it behind the oil filter housing, not where the Carrera one is (on the RH cylinder head).

I've never done it, but if you would like the instructions from the workshop manual, drop me an email. (Click the button below my avatar photo).

If its any consolation, mine has just started doing it. Most of the time it is alright, then falls away, then pops back to normal for a few weeks. Will have my specialist look at it in June when I get her serviced.

Thanks, I was wondering how long it might last now it's come back. Seems they last for a while.. New one on order and will be enlisting my wife's small hands to help.
