Oil pressure sensor

Half way through the journey in to work this morning, the VDO pressure gauge pegged at 10 Bar, and has stayed there ever since. I presume it's the sensor.
Is this
a) easy to get at
b) cheap to replace?

Any info appreciated..
 
It is a bit of a pig to get at.
It is inexpensive.

Before you buy a new sensor disconnect the old one and switch on the ignition. If you get a 10 bar reading the wire to the sensor is running to earth.

Then jiggle the wire and reconnect. If it now works correctly you have dislodged the wire from the point at which it was earthing but as it will reccur you should rewire the sensor.

If shes a 2ltr then its a pig to get at as Geoff says... You need tiny hands to get down behind the dizzy .. If she is an 'S' then the oil pressure sensor is down under the oil filter .. Not too bad to get at....

There are 2 wires on it a blue/black for the guage and a blue/white for the oil light. If you disconnect the blue/black and ground it then the guage should read '0' with the ignition on.. This tells you the wiring and guage are fine and the problem lies with the sensor or sensor connection. If you ground the blue/white wire then the light should come on. [;)]
