Oil pressure switch + MAF sensor

Giood afternoon,

I have two questions today, this coming weekend is a busy one for my 944, she will be having a gearbox oil change due being a bit noisey, and I am going to go through all my vacum hoses for a good clean and ensure no blockages, however where do I find the MAF sensor! I cant see it at all, and am planning to give it a clean. also where is the oil pressure switch/sender unit, as I am going to replace that as well, my needle is making me feel very dizzy by the constant bouncing around, and I am fed up with having oil pressure above 5 when driving and 3 when idling!

Erm.... ops! My mistake, I wanted to try and smooth out the idle a little, she is running ok, but "puttering" a little, especially when cold I did not realise that she has a AFM not MAF! So I was at first point going to clean all the vacuum hoses and sensors to make sure there is not blockages or gunk anywhere, then run a few tanks of redex through her then change the fuel filter, Check all points, contacts ect. I have worked with Mafs before as most of my previous cars have had them, what is the difference with AFM's?

AFM is stone-age technology, MAF is last century. The AFM is a flap with a potentiometer attached to measure how far open it is. Can you say "restrictive"?

Ouch! shall I mention Jamsport last year? [:D]

No,

I expect the MAF/MAP cars are going to be stronger this year so i'll keep quiet - at least for a couple of weeks [;)]

Anyway AFM is located on the airfilter box. Idle control valve under the inlet manifold will probably also benefit from some cleaning.

The oil pressure switch is a real pig of a job. You'll need a crow's foot to get it off (24 or 27mm - I can't remember at the moment). Access through the O/S wheelarch.

Good Luck ! [;)]

It is a 24mm and is a right little horror to get at. Best idea is to chop a 24mm spanner really short.... or remove the power steering pump.

If it isn't replaced tight enough you can empty your sump of oil in about .....ummmmmm 400 miles.
