Oil residue on the bumper

The last couple of times out I've noticed an oil residue on the back bumper. Has anyone else suffered this or has an explanation. There's no power loss or strange noises and the oil pressure is good. It uses a little oil which I believe is normal! Thanks

It's an even coating over all of the bumper. I've not noticed any oil residue in the exhausts but will have a look tomorrow. If it's the air/oil separator is this an easy fix or a job for the professional?

The AOS is a pain to change. Take a look at the exhausts, but there are a couple of other checks you can do.

With the engine idling, try removing the oil filler cap. If it is really difficult, held by vacuum, that's one sign. With engine off, take the inlet hose off the throttle body, open the butterfly by hand, and peek inside with a torch. If it is glossy with oil residue, that's another sign.

There is an oil residue on the passenger side exhaust but the other one is clean. I've not had chance to start it yet but will do in the next couple of days. Thanks for the help.

The left hand exhaust is for bank 2 (Cyls 4, 5, & 6 on the driver's side). I hate to say this, but oil residue in the LH exhaust tip is a possible sign of bore scoring. This is usually from cylinders 5 or 6, which are the last ones on the coolant path. It would be best to get a borescope check done.

I had this problem (oil residue on the bumper, NOT on the exhaust tip) a few years ago and it turned out that the oil drain plug (there may well be a more technical term for it!) had worked slightly loose.
