Oil surge and Mayo?

Spent most of today hurtling around Donington in the s2 today[:D]
However...

I did notice i was blowing a lot of smoke on the exit of Coppice and on to Starkeys.... ( bit right hander for those who arent familiar with the circuit ) I was pulling through this in 3rd and going like a train.. Do 944's suffer from oil surge? is there anything i can do? or is there something else wrong with my car and should I be afraid?

Also noticed some mayo on my oil cap at the track, I cleaned it off, did some steady sessions and drove it 50 miles home steady and the cap in still clean, is thsi the condensation that Paul mentioned in the winter driving tips thread?

I get 'Mayo/Mustard during the winter when i only use it for a few miles rather long journeys. As for the smoke, keep an eye on the oil level. See if goes down during normal driving as track driving will burn oil anyway. Haven't come across any oil surges.

I'm at work tonight but at home 've got a good picture of my oil cap covered in mayo (looks really scarey) and it looks the same nearly every winter. I'll post it tomorrow.

I can't remember what car you've got Lali, but most Turbos will puff out some blue oil smoke when getting hard on the gas on track. My Turbo uses about a litre in 100 miles [] when on track (but 2000 miles on road). I expect that to reduce when I one day get a new HUGE Turbo with new seals [8D]

When I tracked my S2 I had no oil useage or smoking however hard I drove it. If you are worried then a compression and leakdown test will tell you if anything internal is starting to wear out. 944's don't have any particular surging or starvation problems (but the Turbos and S2s do have a baffled sump), just make sure the oil is topped up in between sessions
