Hello All,

Has anyone else come across this one?
Last night when using the car the oil temp gauge suddenly went from its normal reading to the top of the gauge. It is definitely NOT the oil getting too hot as the car had only been running for 8 mins or so before it did it.
It did this once before a couple of years ago immediately after I had to drive through a lot of fairly deep water after a torrential downpour. On that occasion I immediately stopped turned off the ignition and when I turned it on again it returned to its normal reading and has not done it again since.
Last night when I did the same it still kept shooting up to the top of the scale.Any ideas?

Richard.

Is the oil temperature gauge not driven by a sensor on the engine (near the oil pressure sender)?? The sensor on the oil cooler is just for the CCU to activate the cooling fan.

Regards

Dave

As far as I remember the oil sensor is on the engine (near the oil pressure sender) . Based on the symptoms I would first check and clean the connection and then tried the new sensor (part no 911 606 112 00)...
