Oil Temperature

The temperature gauge on my C2S rarely gets above the 8 o'clock gauge position except when sitting in heavy traffic in summer months (remember when we used to have them?). The oil pressure is always high at top of gauge and I wonderer if I have a thermostat problem or is this normal?

Any guidance appreciated.

Bernard

I had free winter check at an OPC a couple of weeks ago. I mentioned that I thought the oil level indicator in my C4S was reading a little low. After letting the engine tick over for about 5 mins on a level surface they added about 0.5l of oil which took the level indicator up to about 10 o'clock.

Mike - isnt the oil level gauge on the "right" hand side of the circular dial... so can you help clarify your "10 o'clock" position...?

Comments on temperature gauge above match mine. I think, in the technical articles on this forum, there is something on the various marks on the temperature gauge, what temperatures they are (in degrees) and what actions they relate to (ie "open thermostat", "start oil cooler fan at half speed" etc)

Sounds normal. Mine never gets above 8 o'clock in this weather. Oil pressure will be a top of guage unless idling when you might see between 2 and 3 in this weather.

Ian.

Thanks to everyone for your advice.

It looks like I can relax and go beck to sleep now.

Kenny, Yes, I should have said 2 o'clock.
