OilPressure - Low ??

David Green

New member
I've got a 1999 C4 3.4, when I start the car in the morning the oil pressure is around 5 bar, as it warms up and is running at say 2k to 3k rpm it settles at around 3.5 bar.Once at normal operating temp at 2k the pressure is between 2 to 3 bar and only goes to 4 bar and marginally over once you get to 4k rpm. Even if you go past 5k rpm it doesn't go any higher. I've know someonme with a new C4S who says his pressure is regularlt around 5 bar regardless of temp.

I have owned 964, 911 including turbo and the pressure ahs always been around 4 bar once you get to 2k to 3k rpm.

Should I be concerned ?

The book say's it OK providing it read a minimum of 4 bar at 5000 if I recall correctly. It wasn't so much the pressure at the higher rev's more that it seemed low at lower revs.

Don't worry then!!

It seemed low at lower revs.

Shouldn't be a problem; again, stop worrying!! I think it can go down to about 1.5bar on idle....
