OK so we have the 356 forum now for some suggestions

912UK

New member
Hi there I will call club office later tomorrow for me subs

Ok so now we have the 356 forum ( although no one can see it at the mo ( new onlookers ) )
I would like some suggestions on how to let the other members who have 356's come forward and join in..

As we know there is not alot of traffic for this but some interesting threads have already started and for new members looking in , it shows we are aproachable...

So does any one have an idea's they would like to offer..

I am going to ask about putting out a flyer to the members to let them know..

Also it would be nice to see some of these Resto Pictures ( HELEN !!)

and people who owned 356's in the past.. you never know we might know who has the car now....

very negative there Helen! It's fair to say that this section is never going to be hugely busy but a steady stream of info is a good thing. Why go to DDK when you now have a perfectly good medium here? It's gonna take time but it will be worth it long term.

i'm negative a bout the heritage side of PCGB ? i wonder why that should be?

why should i come back here for the heritage stuff ?...

Hi Helen

In that case why start up the 914 section here?

If you don't support it yourself, and continue to promote DDK etc as a better place to be, why would anyone else come here?

You know how difficult it was to get the 356 forum started, so why not offer some support - if the non "tweedy" people don't join it, it will all die, and the people who did not want the forum in the first place will be given their "told you so" opportunity...

DDK etc are all fun places to be, but fragment the Porsche view into segments, this is one of the only UK based sites that deals with the whole of the Porsche range in one place, and allows people to get a view of the complete history of Porsche, not just a particular era (just need to get the tractors and race cars in here [:)]), and I think it deserves to be supported on that basis - I view the forum as generally seperate from PCGB politics, as the politicians are not really interested in it anyway...

As said, it is not going to happen overnight, but unless those people who can make it happen do make it happen, and that certainly includes you, then it will fade away, and all the goodwill and initial effort will have been wasted

Thanks Pete I know Helen has issues with PCGB and I agree with her and then I don't..

I agree because Lazza and Helen put their money where their mouth was and put their hand up for election and did a great job of... bashing their heads against the brick wall. But then I don't agree with not supporting the forum once it's here as Helen has a great project on the go at the moment and it would be a great idea to see some projects being done by PCGB members on a budget and being done and worked on by them selves.

Which is what I think PCGB has missing on the classic side of the club.....people who get their hands dirty.

I have no tweed jacket and I am only 35 but feel 55 and after I write this email here I am off out with my can of Bud to the work shop to do another few more hours of welding and working on the 356.

I will then come back and post how I have done, in a hope to get some other members thinking... now I can do that. Thus hopefully getting another car back on the road and back in the PCGB fold.

Come one Helen a few pictures I can do the words if you like..

Oh I forgot to mention I have been posting the same questions on DDK so I can start to get the both sides looking and talking.. Yes it has been that more people on DDK have made comments but I have linked it from here to there. So even new members can see the result.. AS there still is a fair number of DDK and PCGB members both can see and over time I hope a few will say ok I will rejoin..

It's my time and I am happy to use some of it for the younger members of the 356 side as there is no one else happy to help them unless they have a

A Silver 356
A Carrera
A RHD car
A few quid in the bank.

So for the younger members that don't forfill 90% of the above keep with me I hope to offer something for you all.

any more responce..

when i showed interest in buying a 1960's Porsche 3-4 years ago,PCGB officials thought it was a huge joke, and were very very discouraging, and looked down their noses at me.

And now you are effectively doing the same to Mark [&:]

More power to Mark for persisting with this - he deserves praise not put-downs.

can't be bothered to double post everything. sorry Mark.

Hi Helen - I think Mark and the people you are alluding to are worlds apart, why not put half of it on DDK and half of it on here [;)]

Pete

OH dear , well take the put downs Helen and put them in pictures of Progress and writings of how you put your 356 back on the road... I for one will be doing the same and So will pmjt so between us we can shut them up and show them there is a need for information for people who are restoring their own cars..

I for one have had a bad Eve my mig welder is playing up even though it's just come back from a serivce ( now sporting a nice NEW dent or two with hammer due to it being a comeplete f*(&$r ) but I will be out there again tomorrow....... that's what being young is all about... bouncing back ( plus I sent an email to Barry to ask why my welder is being a Comp**^ F&*^$r)

So my floor is not finished but near finished

I look forward to seeing these pictures of your car on here to show the others..how to do a 356 on your own [;)]

yup, what a waste of time that was.[]

Hi Helen

In the end the 914 world was not going to beat an immediate path to the PCGB door just because we started a forum section - how many 914's are there actually in the UK? - of those how many would be likely to access this forum by chance after you started the 914 section? The word will spread slowly if you let it - I see several threads with 100+ hits in the 914 area so somebody is interested [;)]
This is the problem with not catering for the owners of older cars in the first place - it is very difficult to get people to change their habits once they have moved away, but if the information is interesting and relevant people will start to take part

Pete

Helen . . . . . I wish I understood how your mind works . . . . actually, cancel that, I wouldn't. Your comment above is pointless . . . whoppee do dar, you're with DDK . . . so what . . . . so am I [][:'(] .

Mark . . . my recommendation would be as per my other posting - - - get it visable to non registered forum users . . . other that that I'd leave it as it is. Like I've always said the PCGB forums for the early cars 914, 912, 911 and 356 is never going to be busy ..... but there has to be something.

Phil

Didn't realise sincerity was one of your strong points . . . (that's a joke . . . as was your comment I'm presuming . . . but then again who knows with you).

Here's to all Porsche enthusiasts wherever they lurk

ha ha all good fun.. So post a pic Helen of your freshly painted 356 project..

Phil your right get it visable and then just keep an eye but wanted to ask others if they had any idea's

I knwo there are a number of 356 owners out there who at the moment don't use the forum and I am sure are being told what a huge waste of time it is from some one but they I hope can judge for themselves.

Just keeping the faith..[;)]

Helen's thoughts aside, why is it that we appear the only one's with a 356 worthy of posting??[&:]

Where are all the others?

Lazza

cough cough ... and mine...[;)] also pmjt's Carrera

pors1mywhite.jpg

Well it looks like Helen has made her point and walked...

Her 356 Project is an " Exclusive DDK Project " Yawn [;)]

I will never understand. Any way for others that would like to add any content of their 356 projects then please feel Free to do so. If you have any problems with pictures please let me know I will help you.

Also I have just been sent some pictures of a Radium Green Split Screen Pre A not sure what year but it can only be 50-53ish prob a 52 That Bruce at Sport Wagen has just completed.

And for that information I have to say thanks to Fred Hampton for this lead , thanks..

( Although if Bruce had answered his phone I would have got there.. some builders had cut though his phone line hence I couldn't get though..)
