Onboard computer log

Didn't get any response when posted to the modern Porsche sub-forum; hoping for some feedback here:

How long does the error logs stay in the memory of a modern Porsche? ...and can the OPCs access the full history and use it against you for, say, voiding a warranty claim?

For example: the smarttop mod occasional throws an error claiming the roof is not in place when opened while driving and this message stays as an exclamation mark until the car is switched off and back on, will this stay on the car's error log until it is reset by OPC?

Many thanks.

What type of error do you mean? The Boxster has no provision to store fault codes for the roof. There is no error log for the roof. If you remove the SmartTop and take the car in for service there is no way to tell you had it.

When it comes to the engine, data is stored in the DME/ECU control unit. The only thing I would worry about is if there were a lot of range 2 over revs and your engine was in bits at the same time as the last over rev. Now that could be used against you.

Wow, it must be some early hour in CA right now... The error pops up in a similar format as if the seatbelt was not worn while driving. It then stays as an !check on the onboard computer menu until the car is switched completely off and back on.

...but I think you have already answered my question, so thank you very much for that.
