Hi folks, I have organised a guest speaker Robert Bolton for the February meeting which is on Wednesday 1st. He comes highly recommended.

He is a professional jeweller and his talk will be entitled 'The Story of Diamonds'

I understand that he will bring some samples along and explain how they are cut etc. Us men will have to hope that ladies appetites aren't whetted!

Would everyone please make an effort to attend what should be an entertaining free evening out. I would be grateful for some feedback on the forum about your intentions so that I can organise which room we need and how much seating etc.

I look forward to hearing from you all,

Chris

Hi Chris, Jane says she'll drag me along but can I suggest all wallets are left at the reception desk safe on arrival!!! John

Hi Guys

Put Lorraine and me down, I have to disagree with John, I'll be leaving my wallet at home, the reception is too close and tempting

[:D]

Interesting evening

The next time I go in Ratners I'll mention the 4 C's, that should impress them, [;)]

Cheers Chris for organising

Looking forward to Louth letts hope foe some decent weather and a good run out.

Amazing to find that the chap used to be a club member and got to follow Richard Attwood around Donington, him and Lisa could share notes about keeping up [:D]

Based on that talk if we ever fall on hard times there will be no point trying to trade in Carol's enagement ring then; and there was me thinking I had spent a reasonable amount, turns out I am just cheap skate. Definitely interesting stuff.

Very funny, Mark [&:]

Really enjoyed the talk and hearing Robert's stories, thanks for organising it, Chris.

Thanks for organising this Chris. It was a really interesting talk and the guy knew stuff about limited edition watches too, which was even more interesting!

If you Google 'Famous Diamonds' funnily enough you will find info about famous diamonds including that one that Richard Burton bought for Liz Taylor.

It doesn't compare with the ring I bought Jane from the famous "Elizabeth Arden" (courtesy of Argos) Limited edition to boot!! A definate investment (not)
With Valentine's Day and Wedding Anniversary coming up, Jane will have to settle for a "fuel tank top-up" MUCH more expensive but not quite as romantic (unless I through in a red rose of course).
Great evening but a shame about the 55 minute wait for food though. We'll bring sarnies next time.
See you all at Louth.

John

Yes John I agree. I have given feedback to The Woodlands about the long waiting time for food and their prices which are over the top. We will have to see if there are any improvements. On a positive note I think it is a lovely venue which will be great for us all when summer eventually arrives.

On the subject of jewellery we bought Linda a lovely diamond ring (replacing lost engagement ring) from Herbert Browns pawnbrokers and it has a nice 'inclusion' i.e. a lump of coal in it. [:D] Needless to say it was a good buy.[:)] We would love to buy from Argos but it is just too upmarket for us!![:D][:D]

Chris

Going to see Robert in the morning about a diamond ring for the wife, I will let you know how I get on or what happens to my wallet?

Regards
John
