I dropped my cayenne S off at the dealers to try and sort its multiple problems.
Its still there today (awaiting parts (dealer was originally quoted 2007!!! before necessary parts available!) and will have spent nearly 2 months off the road at the dealers in my first years ownership.
Porsche, officially the most unreliable vehicle I have ever owned (and that includes a £15yr old mk 1 VW polo I had as a student!)
Advise please...

 
Its going back to Porsche, and I'm getting a 911 instead
Will get a disco 3 as my next 4x4 .....
 
Have done a deal on a P/ex vs a new 997 C4s cab ( when they arrive). The list of problems that I have had with it runs into two pages of A4 ... but basically centres around two main problems; the electrics and the gearbox. The reason it spent 6 weeks at the dealer was because it was waiting for new control modules from germany to arrive ( could have been worse - when the dealer first put a request in they were told 2007 delivery for a new module!) They then delivered the car back to me, went to get in it and the door wouldn't unlock - the control module had gone on this betwen them road testing the car and delivering it back to me. At that point I said enough is enough and a deal was struck. Basically I stuffed myself by not rejecting the car earlier (ie before it was six months old) but you live and learn..... New disco arrives for my other half, and if that runs well, then will get one for myself when the cayenne goes next april....

[:eek:]It makes one wonder what exactly goes on with all the 1000's of test miles in extreme conditions over a period of many years from prototype 1 to final production runs [&o] And thats from a company who once led the world with there engineering expertise [:eek:]
 
modern day irony...

mechanics fine.. it's the software thst is messed up !

my old TT was off the roads for one month then again for 2 months while they fixed software problems (parts not available)

so when you break down, who do you call the RAC or PC World ?

 
call the scrap yard I think...
Picked it up friday, within 25 miles the problem re-occured despite a faulty abs module having been replaced. So far:
New rear window switch x3
Mew gearbox module x 2
New central locking module
New abs module
New headlight covers (fogging)
New seat belt
New memory module for comfort settings
New CD Changer
New Radio
the list goes on...

You could have virtually built a new cayenne with the faulty parts on mine...!

So back into the dealer today...they must hate this car as much as I do! But at least we are still talking and they are doing their level best to keep me happy - I just worry that Porsche UK don't quite have the same attitude to customer service.

My first Porsche experience has not been good[:(]
 
I got my Caynnes Tip S 1/1/05 and love it to bits, only 1 problem which I believe Porsche now about is the rear window catch which keeps poping open.Apart from that I've got no issues. Oh I'm now thinking of the Cayman S. Will I put my name down for this beast !
 
I'm fully willing to admit that the vast majority of the KN's are fine, I've just been unlucky. I just want to put the experience behind me now...
We were going to get a KN V6 for my wife, but in view of the problems with my KN looked elsewhere and ended up getting a Disco 3 (with a £5K discount!) and she is very happy with it. I reckon Porsche is going to have some serious competition when the Range Sport hits the show rooms as LR have improved ++++ between the old model and the new one.
