OPC Leicester

Hi all...
I'm fairly new to the forum and haven't managed to attend a Monday night meeting but fully intend to once the light nights are here.
Back in December I purchased a 997.2 4S cab from an independant in Hinkley. Prior to my purchase the car had been in for a service at Porsche Leicester. Prior to finalising the deal I decided to speak to the OPC to see what they could tell me about the car. Expecting to be fobbed off with data protection this, can't tell you that; I was delighted when I spoke to Gary the service manager who took time to chat with me and put my mind at rest about the car and the dealer I was purchasing it from. He even told me there were a couple of extra (six year service items) that needed doing in addition to the service it had, but nothing that wouldn't wait till the better weather.
I now own the car and because of Leicesters good service I took the car in today for the additional items. They aren't my local OPC but I figured they had gone the extra mile so I would too.
Its not often I return from a car dealership having had a genuinely good day, especially having parted with cash.
I can't say enough good things about OPC Leicester.
Claire who dealt with me in service was superb. She even arranged for me to meet the technician "Callum" who showed me round the workshop and got me under the car looking at the oily bits. Gary the service manager took time to come and introduce himself and tell me a bit about the service centre and their interest in classic Porsche.
The work was done on time and at a reasonable price with a discount for PCGB membership. I needed a replacement carpet gripper stud which they supplied and fitted foc.
I had also asked for some tips on cleaning my vented seats and was amazed when the valeting guy came and found me and took me for a tour of the valeting centre and talked me through all the techniques and products they use. What a genuine guy, and wasn't even trying to sell me any Porsche cleaning products.
Anyway....credit where credits due. Perhaps I've entered a perfect world. Perhaps all OPC's are this way. I will be the first to criticise bad service but I also think great service should be mentioned too.
Well done Porsche Leicester.

Hi Dave
Good to hear Leicester OPC is doing more than just its job.
I have an old 944 and the service is just as good, Gary for service and Glenn the parts man are great.
Look forward to seeing you at a club night soon
Mike

Always had great service from Leicester. Even though I bought my car privately, Gary was helpful throughout my purchase, Claire and Glenn have looked after all my needs since.
I've tried some independents but can't recommend Leicester enough.

That is such good feedback - thanks.
Leicester OPC are great supporters of the club and host our Tour of the East Midlands event each year.
Cheers
Tom

Another vote for OPC Leicester. They maintained my 964 for 8 years while it was in Mark Koeberle's ownership and, like the OP above, I had a very helpful chat before purchasing from Mark with the technician who serviced the car and rebuilt the engine during this time. I have had the car back there for one service since, and will probably continue to use them even though they are not as convenient for me as the indy who used to look after my 993 and Boxster (and whom I rate highly).

mhl -thats a lovely car you have got, Mark is a very particular owner and his cars are always kept beautifully.

Great to hear all these positive comments about Leicester,i find them superb in all aspects, they had my Cayenne in bits recently after an engine light came on-quickly solved, and more interestingly- currently they are doing a light resto on a lucky someones 964 Turbo...!
My Brothers 968 sport is in there at the moment for some moderate engine surgery involving cam chain tensioner and also a power steering fault.
So refreshing to have a clued up and enthusiastic about classic models local main dealer that gives such specialist service.
Great classic parts service for club members by their parts dept, speak to Glenn.
