Anyone received an official invite to the Panamera launch on Thursday night at Braehead?? I know some people have been asked to take along there cars for display in the workshop area ,but why no official invite to PCGB members

Brian,

Only a select bunch of customers have been invited!

It must be the high rolling, high spending ones.

I spent £7.50 on a oil filter this year!

Also keep in mind apart from Porsche Centres in the S.E. i.e. Reading, Hatfield, Guildford, West London, Mayfair and now Byfleet being owned by Porsche Cars GB, all others are franchise dealers and do what they like and not much update is forwarded to the club; it is local ROs who maintain the relations.
As Chfs911 stated launch invites are centre to decide which customers to invite. The London launch was on Tuesday and they had asked a club member to have their 928 displayed next to the Panamera.

Also in the S.E. The centres do a regular booklet (think every quarter) and in the last one they invited everyone to register if they would like to attend and those who did, all got an invite.

For Panamera, the sales manager was saying, all the orders have been from Bentley, highend Beemers, Mercs, owners and not a single order from an exisiting Porsche owner as yet; now that is a great market growth...

I must be old too, 21+10 (although feeling 41 today!).
I got an invite and planned to go along, but as you can tell from the time of this post, I'm not there, or even close to it. Have a small baby with "man flu". [:(]

Brian, you can report back to us all. And thanks for the parcel, will get pics of garmets on Lliam and let you see how dinky he looks!

Well what can I say ..a great night as most on here know I am a member of the Tipec club and they where invited along to display there cars ...a total of 18 cars from 924- 911 turned up to put on a great display some of the rarer ones where in the workshop area and the rest formed a display outside and where greatly admired ,to be fair there where a few club members who where personely invited to bring along there cars to make up the display .I think it was a missed opportunity that PCGB did not get an invite along to the dealership as I have never seen so many porsches before at a dealership there must have been over 500 people there tonight .The Panamera is stunning especialy the inside and the ammount of legroon in the back is huge I have no doubt it will sell well . all in all a great night out .

Well no invite to PCGB R1 and no real relationship with Glasgow centre to date, (Chris Wilson had spoke to Glasgow when they opened about having a night in glasgow and so did Gordon, both gave them my contact details but nothing so far and I have not been along yet to Glasgow but will do so in the near future) There is a good relationship with Edinburgh though and possibly why Edinburgh have made an effort with the R1. I was asked to Edinburgh launch and Glasgow by a friend who bought her Porsche in Glasgow, but its not really my type of car I am looking for at present, aimed more at the older driver with mercs I think[:)]. although if you are in the S class bracket, I guess its the car for you !
Porsche had a few of them all lined up at the Oldtimers event at the ring and it certainly has presence.

Always feel slightly sorry for main dealers as most of the press they get on the forums is from disguntled customers and not from the hundreds that are happy with their service. I will however make a point of meeting Glasgow Porsche and organise an evening over the winter months for PCGB members.

regards
Scott.

Great night , prob best ever opc launch
My wife was distracted to the point of gasping out loud at the beauty of one of the exhibits, or does Dario Franchitti not count...

Great night! Never saw the Panamera(due to crowds) but the fizz and the Saxophonist were choice!

The RS Spyder was the one for me.

Good to see the older crowd out. ;O)

I was a bit sad to miss out on the night, but apparently my car's too "˜non-original' for a Porsche Centre display of classics!

Not to worry, I was watching a last-minute gig with Teenage Fanclub and Edwyn Collins collaborating to do a set of old Orange Juice songs. Plenty of Glaswegian old-timers there "¦

What the hell are you smoking these days[:D][:D]

Saw the new Panamera today at Edinburghs OPC ....................you would have to be old, bald and with 2.4 children to want one of those!!!! But, I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder (with the big wallet)!!!

There was a rather special Porsche there today........and no, I'm not talking about my CARRERA!!!!! And you would need a very very big fat wallet to afford one of those!!!!
Kx
