OPC Service

Hi All,

Just a quick question my 2005 C2S is due its 4 year major service after phoning the OPC to book it in I was informed that as well as the usual additional items such as brake fluid change, replacement of spark plugs etc increasing the published £570 service cost, they would need to drain and replace the radiator coolant. This is not mentioned in the list of major maintenance scheduled items is this just the OPC trying to add cost or has anybody else had theirs replaced as part of the normal service. I would be very grateful of your feedback.

Regards

Ian

I recently had the same issues, so checked local indipendant prices for some of the extra tasks.
Brake fluid change less than half the price including my prefered blue fluid.
Spark plug change 25% cheaper.
Check auxillary drive belt free!

My PC did not mention anything about a cooling fluid change?

I decided to get minimum service as possible done by PC and provided my own Mobil 1, which was also a big saving!!

March had my 4 year service and no mention of coolant change but even though I supplied my own Mobil 1 at £5.00 a litre they still managed to screw me out of another £12.95 for 1L of Mobil to top up car between services []

I told them to do the bare minimun to get the stamp in the service book, then take it to someone that won't rip you off,

My first stab at this forum ....I'm in the same position; same year and first major service. I've been quoted over £1k but through obtaining various OPC quotes managed to get down to £954 which includes Mot and a drain and refresh on the aircon - don't know about the coolant drain though - is this mentioned in the schedule?
I'm unaware of a good specialist around Edinburgh but thought it best to keep the OPC stamp going for a while anyway. Not sure about the warranty this coming year though as it seems to have been hiked up dramatically (no doubt for additional benefits but surely to Porshce's advantage).
This has been my first Porsche bought new with all trimmings and factory tour etc and it has been a great experience but with only 8k under belt the car has had it's fair share of warrnaty work; nothing mechanical though mainly trim sat nav etc but enough to shatter the bulletproof myth.

Welcome to the forum Ian
If a member update your profile as we have a warranty thread results running in the members only area.

I have had one trim fault issue which was repaired first time round I'm pleased to say, nothing worse that a rattling trim.
I think we all agree with you on the warranty issue of things...[:-]

I had mine serviced 6 weeks ago on its 4th year but went in with copy of web site service list and they only did what was on the fact sheet only extra they recomended was air con service.opc hatfield

Thanks for all your replies it appears on speaking with the OPC further that the additional work involves regassing the air con system and not replacing the engine coolant, my mistake. This appears to be the norm judging by some of the replies. Thanks again.

Regards

Ian
