OPC Trade-In: Carrera for Turbo?

Anyone traded in a 997 Carrera for the new Turbo at an OPC? Selling privately may be a better way to go perhaps?!

Just wondering how much you were 'hit' by depreciation.... [:(]

I traded my 12 month old 997S 2 Coupe, good spec, circa 71K OTR earlier this month to the same dealer for my new 997 Turbo, good spec, circa 103K OTR, depreciation was circa 10K, roughly what I was expecting and I'm sure could have been much worse.

That's not too bad. What was your mileage?

I'm up to 9k miles and the car is now 11 months old. The list price for my C2S Cab was about 83k and since then I've added PSE and SS (about another 2k) to make the car almost 'full' spec other than the Powerkit.

So I'm wondering what it would be worth now, plus at the 2 and 3 year points.

I gather the OPCs will resell the car you trade-in at a handsome profit! I have a meeting with an OPC sales guy who specializes in the new Turbo on Friday so I am preparing myself for a depreciation shock...

I believe you had 5200 miles on the clock yes? I assume though that you didn't trade in via an OPC in the end though given your previous for-sale post?

Yes - correct, having said that though the car is still un-sold. Dealer seems relaxed, I'm just a bit frustrated as I currently have no car and no return[]. If worse comes it's back to the OPC with the car and take the cheque (no doubt revised as its a month older[]) Hey the joys of motoring!

So if it's unsold then your £10k depreciation over 17 months I assume is what the OPC quoted you? Or were you referring to what Christopher wrote and saw 17 instead of 12?!

As you are probably aware, there is a similar discussion on 997 residuals on the 997 Forum. Unless you guys are convinced that potential buyers of 997 turbos are being treated differently, can we please keep it there?
Thanks
John
