OPC verses Indie......911 Sport, LINCS

I started this topic on members cars and running reports but I think for the level of service recieved it warrants its own mention.
I bought my '02 C4S a year ago from 911 Sport at Horncastle in Lincolnshire. I have used them for quite a bit of stuff on my previous Boxster and they have done good work for me and have generally been cheaper and more easily accessible to get the car booked in. I deliberated about buying a car from an Indie fearing inferior warranty service believing an OPC would be a safer bet however I stumbled across the car that ticked all the boxes at 911 Sport so I took the plunge. I paid book price for a very tidy 15000 mile car with sports exhaust and all the toys. I have had NO problems with it at all.
I have only done 5k in a year therefore it falls short of requiring a service needing only an annual check. I phoned for a price disclosing mileage/schedule etc & was quoted £354 from 911 Sport (minor service) and £128 from the OPC. I went (QED) with the OPC, official stamp etc etc and cheaper price/requirement taken into consideration. During this check they flagged up an RMS leak and presented me with a quote for £968......
I read with interest that Porsche are doing these under goodwill if correctly maintained-I wasn't offered a replacement FOC for the record, just a large quote.
I took the car back to 911 Sport as I took out a warranty out with it. And this is where I have been really really pleasantly surprised. The proprietor has taken it on without hesitation or debate at his own expence warranty aside. I collect it on Tuesday. It has put to be all my fears that I had re non OPC. I have to say that I feel a bit guilty now for not challenging them over the annual service/inspection and giving them the opportunity to take the job on. I will update when I get the car back, almost to good to be true. I think I am recieving OUTSTANDING SERVICE and its only right to shout about it. I like to think good service deserves customer loyalty and vice versa. Really impressed with them.

That's fantastc [8D]

On the OPC RMS subject, I received an email today from a member who had been quoted for the RMS - discovered during a service.
They went back (quoting me [] - now I'm in trouble [;)]) that they understood the RMS was now being done under goodwill - assuming serviced correctly etc. The OPC has offered to pay for all parts (£15 [:D]) and 90% of the labour.
I'd say that was a result [8D]

Thats really good news and just goes to show that OPC's aren't everything they like to think they are. If you can find a good independent and built a relationship with the proprietor/head mechanic etc not only will you save £'s but end up with better service to boot.

I use a small independent in Bristol. I make the tea for the guys in the workshop and buy a packet of biscuits every now and again, and in return they give me fantastic, friendly service at a great price. Often I have had minor jobs done for nothing at all.

Just today my OPC in Bristol tried to charge me £30 + VAT to get a radio code for my wife's Boxster. Called my independent who got it for me for nothing. Thats the difference.

Following my previous posts I am delighted to say I have not been disappointed! My car was ready on time, I was called early mid afternoon to say it was ready to collect and the RMS replaced free of charge a year after buying the car. No bill for replacement oil etc etc.
The car is running great, no fuss. Extremely pleased with 911 Sport, would strongly recommend them having "pressed to test" I have not been left disappointed. Top after sales service.

I used 911 Sport in November last year for my new brakes and they were excellent. Shame I don't live in Louth anymore as its a bit of a trek to Horncastle from Sheffield - although a great driving route [8D]

I am thinking about using Autotechnic who are a "Prestige German" specialist in Sheffield (not far from OPC), noticed in the hospital car park this morning they have a got brand new Mini as a courtesy car with all the lettering on and are doing some heavy advertising. Anyone any experiences??
Thanks

i use 911 sport all the time. could not agree more with robbosliding. service has all ways been second to none and the knowledge the guys know is awesome. all ways feel welcome and my c4s always comes back to me spotless. they keep me informed of the progress of work and inform of anything they find which needs attention. well priced too. sales cars are very well presented too. highly recommend.[:D]
