OPCs For Trim Parts

Im looking for recommendations for OPC parts departments to supply a selection of trims parts. Prices appear to have rocketed for original production kit and my local OPC has new cocky staff and no discount (wtf - is it 1992?).

Did Exeter drop the ball and if not who should I speak to, and are Leicester better?

Simon,,,,
East London always seem "nice" and helpful,,,
chaps name escapes me but he has been there a long while,,,,jasonp

Join the PCGB and you'll get a discount

You say that but every time I speak to either Colchester or Leicester they say they have already applied the discount ????

Makes me wonder if Porsche have clocked the value rise in classic Porsche and knocked the parts prices up accordingly !
It is run by accountants now, and not engineers.

Leicester always good for me. I swapped from Cambridge as they seemed to have no interest in the model. Not a member but they always seem tomorrow a bit of discount for me.

I use leicester and get good service from them - usually get some money off as well. Usually speak to Adam (don't think he knows 944s so well so I would call equipped with part nos....) or Glenn, who is more experienced/knowledgeable

As an aside I was idly browsing eBay today and was really surprised how much s/h parts prices had gone up on 944's. Some were double what I would have expected.

that's because the cars have gone up quite a bit too, so spares have followed, mind you the cost of new parts from OPC has rocketed as well, due to BREXIT I'm told and the weak quid,

I do have a fully up to date parts system here so I can check prices.....

By misunderstanding -I have a pair of the the Black Window Trims which clip to the outer door skin next to the rubber scraper seal .

They are described as -Window moulding ref PCG 853371 LHS & PCG 853372 RHS.

They cost 57.82 ea inc VAT less my PCGB discount giving net -£50.60 ea inc VAT plus carriage of £5LS.

If anyone wants them please PM me for a club member price. They are unused in original packaging.

Glenn at PC Leicester is by far the recommended guy to go to for parts. Happy to post out, and knows enough to tell you exactly what you'll need. Exeter did seem to lose interest a couple of years ago: don't know if they lost staff?

Simon, you of all people should know that there hasn't been such a thing as an OPC for many, many years. It's misleading to call them by this incorrect term on the internet - as bad as calling all UK base-model 944s "Lux", or using "oval dash" instead of "series two 944". :ROFLMAO:

oooh it burns!

I like this new rogue McNulty, he's like a proper bad lad - be getting a tattoo next!

It's only inaccurate made up terms which frustrate me. They're still official Porsche centres, but now they're named Porsche Centre Sheffield etc - how else can you describe them collectively other than as OPC?

Oval dash cars have an oval dash, but 'Lux' does not describe an 8v normally aspirated 944.

Thanks for the recommendations. It wasn't Gavin that I spoke to at Sheffield. David, instead of being funny on t'internet, shouldn't you be repairing your car...?

I have repaired as much as I can until I get the Turbo back next week. Anyway, how are those electric windows working for you? :ROFLMAO:

The regs appear to work perfectly, but the Heath Robinson switches less so... On a positive note, I have a replacement arm rest lid in Light Grey, which despite being off a relatively almost new car in 1993, has aged to exactly the same colour. I will politely decline eBay's offer of a ratty worn-out replacement hinge (for £25) and buy new from an OPC for about a tenner...

My thoughts exactly.

Not wanting to be pedantic, but it implies there's another sort of Porsche centre that isn't "official". Which there isn't. And I do want to be pedantic. :ROFLMAO:

It's like calling Snickers "Marathon": it's an obsolete name, but one we all remember fondly. Time to move on, though, and get with the times!

They're not called "Marathon" now because they're half the length....
