Operating temperature

New member
Just wondered if my car is ok in terms of it' s engine oil temperature during ' normal' driving.

The temperature needle stays around the 1st line on the guage(less than 1/3rd up)
unless I get stuck in traffic at which point it settles in the middle and goes down again when motoring.

Is this normal for the 993?

Many Thanks.

How do you check the " troublesome" resistor (or the different fan speeds?). My temp stays around 8 oclock but in stationary traffic recently has been going up to about 9 / 10 oclock with a corresponding drop in oil pressure (to very near the bottom of the oil pressure gauage) as the oil starts to get v hot at idle which has been worrying me

TIA

Do a search on the rennlist for oil cooler fan speed and you should find what you are looking for and more info.
Here is one i have saved for future needs on mine,
i think its the same system as a 964
