Opinions on adding optional features..?

I love my 996tt, but I wanted one with sports seats and the car I ended up with has comfort chairs. I know I can buy a pair of sports seats and fit them but what is the general opinion - I know factory spec should not be messed with but is adding things were that were originally an option considered ok?

You can always keep the comfort seats and offer it to the new owner (when you come to sell it) if they prefer them.

Otherwise sell them to help fund the sports seats. I don't think it's a big deal either way to the value on your car

Reference your concerns. It's important with the ever increasing values of 996TT to keep any factory options thst you remove as it maybe yhe difference berween you getting top money or not as it maybe the most important item to thr next owner.

It is your car and adding additional factory fit options to suit your lifestyle and needs cannot be wrong, as has been said above, hanging on to the bits you have removed to pass to the new owner to preserve the "originality" of the car can always be done (possibly with the exception of weaa items such as tyres, belts, pads and discs for example!)
I wanted an integrated satnav and better ICE unit in the car and have kept the original CDR22 Minidisc unit in the loft as well as the other original body parts and wheels that have been replaced or upgraded to personalise/update the car to suit my tastes and needs.

I would be well happy if the previous owner would upgrade various parts on a car I was buying. If I wanted a standard model I would go for one if you don't like it don't buy it.

I have "added" a silver tunnel..

..it takes the focus off the steering wheel (which is marmite) and makes it easier to live with. A good upgrade and i'm happy with it. The old tunnel was scuffed anyway..
