Opportunity for an impromptu 964 meet

If anyone in the South of the UK is interested there is a relatively hastily organised meet set up for Saturday 14th October. Meeting around 11:00am at Porsche Centre Swindon, a number of 964 owners from the Yahoo Group are gathering to put some faces to names and, in particular, meet up with one of our group visiting from Japan.

The location of PC Swindon can be found here. I appreciate Swindon may be a long drive for some but not so bad for those of you in Surrey and Hants. We'd like to see a good gathering of 964s if we can.

Everyone is welcome. We'll probably find somewhere for a pub lunch.

Regards

Dave

This is a great idea but unfortunately my car is in storage due to house modifications. Had my car been available I would have looked forwards to this sort of gathering. I was at the National on the Sunday in the register parking, only talked to a couple of owners I would expect to see more at Swindon. This realy appeals if its sucessfull may be another one in the new year or spring..

Dave, sorry to have missed you. We'll have to get together agin soon before winter sets in, I know the Rennlist guys will think the same....Just make it a little closer to me this time...............................even Goodwood is a fair few miles...

Kevin,

Don't worry - I guessed it would be a bit of a trek for you. It's always a problem trying to find convenient places to meet when people come from such a wide area. I've got to say that Swindon isn't exactly great for me either but from the wilds of Essex it's a bit much for a Saturday morning.

Maybe we should try to find a good location North of the river for a change?? Trouble is, Raymond is such a great host it's difficult to find his equal!!

Hopefully will see you soon.

Regards

Dave

What sort of turnout are you expecting? I'd like to come along and put faces to names, but don't want to intrude if this is a private gathering between you and your Japanese visitors.

Tat,

I can't imagine we are going to get big numbers - maybe 6 or 8 if we are lucky. It will be no intrusion - you are, of course, welcome to pop along.

The suggestion of the meeting came up only because Greg Lund happened to be visiting the UK from Japan and since we have chatted so much on the Yahoo 964 forum we felt it would be a good opportunity to, as you say, put faces to names.

We've scheduled for 11:00am at OPC Swindon so hopefully we'll see you there.

Regards

Dave

Thanks to everybody who came. The weather stayed good and I think the OPC was a good meeting place. I think they were happy to see us and they were pretty hospitable.

Apologies to Mel whose car is missed from the picture - coz he was walking the dog!!

Thanks again everybody - it was a very enjoyable day.

Regards

Dave.

PS I have sent an e-mail to Richard Davies, the Dealer Principal at OPC Swindon, thanking him for organising our visit. I thought it made a very convenient meeting place and I'm sure the "busy-ness" of the showroom and car park can only add to the attractiveness for the dealership. All in all I think it went well.
