I give up. I have had a look through the manuals and can find loads on the OPRV but none actually point to the location. 1987 2.5S.

Please help...

Rob The OPRV is easy to get out - although I don't know if the S had the later one piece type? I have a spare OPRV - it failed at bedford last year (temporarily stuck closed - twice!) I wouldn't trust it in an engine in the medium to long term, but I did drive home from Bedford to Derby and it was OK so it could be used for a bit of fault finding.

Okay - I just took the valve out and it maybe me but the whole mechanism is very loose and slack. i can easily compress the valve with one finger. Is that correct? My head says it should be hard to press but would like to hear from someone that knows what the talking about. Its the new type valve. And the o ring at the end is a little worn.

The complete body is spring loaded so that it fits with the O- ring against the seat in the block as normally it would be fitted "blind" from outside the oil cooler housing with no ability to shim it. That spring is not the oil pressure spring--the OPRV is self contained inside the body itself -just press a smallish flat punch into the centre of the housing -that should show more resistance.
