In case anyone wonders why they cant get optimax at the local shell station, shell have stopped making it.
The replacement is called V Power. Check out the shell website for full spec, octane is 99.

My local resonably priced Shell outfit had V Power tonight at 99.9p a litre and standard brew at 92.9p so price difference from them has risen by 1p per litre over the old Optimax [&o]

If you care about your car, then Shell V-Power is the fuel for you - it's Shell's newly formulated differentiated fuel which replaces Shell Optimax.

In developing Shell V-Power we have built on the highly successful performance platform achieved with Shell Optimax. Shell V-Power is designed to provide even higher levels of performance and bring drivers further enhancements in responsiveness. The improved formulation features higher octane (99 RON), higher detergency and use of Shell's unique Friction Modification Technology, as used by the Ferrari Formula One team in its 2006 Race fuels.

So if you're looking for a fuel designed to get performance from your engine and to help give you improvements in responsiveness, try Shell V-Power next time you fill up.

Clean your engine as you drive

Shell V-Power is designed to improve the performance of your engine by helping to remove power-robbing deposits. By cleaning the engine, the fuel can burn more effectively enabling the engine to run more smoothly. It also contains Shell's unique Friction Modification Technology (FMT), as used by Ferrari in Formula One. Reducing friction inside your engine helps your car run more efficiently, which is one of the reasons why Shell V-Power can begin to improve your vehicle's responsiveness from the moment you use it. Does the occasional tank of V Max (or Optimax as it used to be) make any difference? To be honest, I can't tell any significant performance difference in either the Cayenne or the 997S when I bung in a tankful.
