Does anyone know what these option codes are on my 993tt?

706 PAG Turbo Designation
740 Show car

I can't find them anywhere. The car was originally owned by Porsche GB and appeared in magazines etc - so I assume this relates to the 'Show car' bit?

"Show car"!!, that'll be the make-sure-it-really-works special option so the journos love it feature. Probably came with a few free gifts and a carefully crafted, not too patronising, guide on how to write about German cars.[:D]

I wonder how much it cost....

Nice to have a rare option code.

he he yeah it probably means 'make sure this particular tt actually drives and performs like we say they can!'.

Hi Maurice - here's hoping you see my this thread......[:)]

Otherwise a call to reading may be in order?

I thought all code 740's(factory demo cars) were meant to be taken back to the factory and scrapped............

[:D] up yours Mr. Ruf Wheels!

I've the work jobs from Porsche GB showing the car was virtually rebuilt every time a greasy press hack got his grubby hands on it...........but then again the drivetrain does feel a bit slack.....no it doesn't it drives like new.......or does it.......or.......oh now you've gone and done it Gordon!!!

[:D] Mine doesnt either, bit of a whiney 1st gear but still feels very solid and does not look or feel its age or mileage.

ps just stirring some life in to the Turbo register, oh and I think the 993 is one of the few Porsches that can carry white of well

Mine whines in 1st too - I love it, sounds like it's built for 1000lbs of torque!

Yeah seen your efforts - good man.

In fact we better cotinue this over there eh - it could do with the traffic. [;)]

White - thanks, magnificent when clean - not so great when not. [&:]

Thanks Sundeep - wish I knew what they meant, maybe have to wait for reply from Porsche GB.

Not updating the avatar with a picture of the Manthey then - is this so you can frequent the air-cooled forums without feeling guilty? [:D] [:D]

that should be an interesting response from PGB..... as long as it's been out the clutches of any journos !

and yes, loads of mixed emotion about leaving the air-cooled fold..... over a car that isnt quite a jump and go kind of motor, although I would like to think I do have some info to offer on the 993 side whereas I'm completely clueless on the GT3 side, so as long as I'm welcome I'll try and help (ok, Maurice?)

regards
